Nothing keeps us warmer through the winter months than the best new music from around Asia. The team at Hello Asia! HQ got together to give you our definitive compilation of the latest and hottest releases from throughout May.
Nadine Lustre - “Me and You” (Philippines)
Filipina actress, host and music artist Nadine Lustre has come to the attention of Hello Asia! HQ with her latest single titled "Me And You” - an electro pop track that shows off the talent of Nadine Lustre and is one of the reasons why she is one of the hottest stars coming out of the Philippines right now. (Johnny Au)
SHINee - “View” (South Korea)
SHINee have returned to us Shawols at last and our boys are all grown up and doing us proud. They’re showing us their mature side and they’ve really become comfortable with their style. "View" is a really amazing song and that super-sexy shoulder move doesn’t hurt either. (Kat Czornij)
History - “Might Just Die” (South Korea)
It’s a little bit crazy and I’m not sure about it all blending together well but that dance move at the end amazes and terrifies me when they free-fall jump into the air. (Kat Czornij)
Namie Amuro - “Golden Touch” (Japan)
J-pop superstar songstress Namie Amuro's new MV for "Golden Touch" is definitely something different - an interactive video that will put a smile on your face that is already going viral, despite only having been released on the 26th of May. (Erin Smith)
Seventeen - “Adore U” (South Korea)
Pledis Entertainment’s most anticipated boy group has finally released their debut song. These 13 boys are looking adorable and the song is really fun and upbeat. (Ghassani Swaryandini)
Daichi Miura - “Music” (Japan)
Daichi is my J-pop king. The triple-threat singer/composer/choreographer is super-sweet and super-smooth in his May offering “Music”, with a sixties-style triplet feel, big band horns, plenty of pastel and a very sore neck. Probably. (Erin Smith)
Bestie - “Excuse Me” (South Korea)
Up until now I haven’t had much cause to follow Bestie but after the release of "Excuse Me" in May I will be making more of an effort. It’s super catchy and fun, and the MV has some really wonderful and casual references to same-sex relationships. More of this as the norm, please. (Kat Czornij)
Dru Chen - “You Got It Babe” (Singapore)
Full of catchy soul, funk and pop elements along with a room full of dancing youngsters, Chen is a fresh face in a world steeped in rhythm & blues tradition. (Larry Heath)
Gogo Star - “Jumping” (South Korea)
I am all about Korean indie and electro-rock right now, so this new track from Gogo Star is exactly what I wanted to hear. “Jumping” is danceable, full of momentum and incredibly catchy. (Erin Smith)
Zelo - “No Title” (South Korea)
BAP’s Zelo released on his Soundcloud a track called "No Title”. One can guess what this song is about but make sure you have a read of the lyrics because it’s all quite haunting. (Kat Czornij)
